Hello, I am Anand Rai, a PhD student at the Computer Science and Engineering department of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur under Prof. Animesh Mukherjee . My broad research interests lie in the field of Fairness in Information Retrieval. With the increasing use of technology and algorithms to make important decisions, it is crucial to ensure that these systems do not perpetuate or amplify biases or discrimination towards certain groups. My research focuses on developing fair and equitable information retrieval systems that can benefit society as a whole. Through my work, I hope to contribute towards creating a more just and equitable world.

I received my Masters in Data Science from IIT Hyderabad, where I was co-advised by Maunendra D Desarkar and RamaKrishna Upadrasta . My doctoral research focused on addressing issues concerning the fairness in AI based online pedagogical tools. I completed my bachelors degree in computer science from IIITDM, Jabalpur in 2012. I've around 11 years work experience and during this period I have worked at S&P Capital IQ, AMADA CO. JAPAN and Ministry of Steel. I am a recipient of the UGC Junior Research Fellowship.
